School on Wheels Donations

Help Fill An Urgent Need for Books

More than 24,000 students enrolled in Massachusetts Public Schools are identified as homeless. You can help fill an urgent need for these schoolchildren by donating books to support the backpack program run by School on Wheels of Massachusetts, a nonprofit organization that supports the academic, social, and emotional growth of students impacted by homelessness. Whether the school year begins in class or online, most of the 6,000+ students School on Wheels serves live in one bedroom with their family. Having new books and school essentials neatly stored in one place -- a new backpack -- helps keep kids organized and focused on school.

To purchase books, hover over the "Books" tab at the top of this page, scroll through the dropdown menu, and click on the age category you'd prefer to shop. (School on Wheels currently has a particular need for Middle Reader and Young Adult books.) When placing your online order, click the "Tax Exempt" button (ID# 20-1020880) and select "Pick Up in Store" when choosing shipping options. We'll hold your order for School on Wheels' pickup. Finally, mention "School on Wheels" in the comment section so that you can be properly thanked for your donation!
