Danny Robertshaw and Ron Danta have rescued, rehabilitated, and then adopted out over 13,000 abandoned and abused dogs—right from their own home. Now, with Hingham’s own Larry Lindner, a New York Times bestselling writer, they have penned a book about their experience that delves into how they found their way to each other and how they came to found Danny & Ron’s Rescue, one of the most successful dog rescues in the world. Forever Home is a message of acceptance, kindness, and love. It’s a reminder that hope and joy can arise from the darkest circumstances, and that we all can make the world a better place for ourselves and our animal friends.

Danny and Ron will appear virtually at the Oct. 27 launch event, joined by Larry in person. They will be in conversation with Boston Globe arts and entertainment reporter Mark Shanahan. The $40 ticket price will cover the cost of the book (each attendee will receive a copy signed by Danny and Ron), wine and beer, and hors d’oeuvres. If the event sells out, the Friends of Hingham Cemetery and co-sponsor Buttonwood Books and Toys will jointly donate $1,000 to Danny & Ron’s Rescue. Purchase tickets here.

Ron Danta and Danny Robertshaw are the founders of Danny & Ron’s Rescue, which speaks for helpless animals that have no voice. They began their rescue mission in 2005 after Hurricane Katrina by aiding dogs that were left homeless by the storm. Now, they rescue puppy mill dogs, bait dogs used in dog fighting, and  dogs from shelters—often moments away from euthanasia. They have rescued dogs from junkyards, freed animals chained to trees and living in small cages, and saved abandoned pets living on the streets.  They live in South Carolina.  For more visist
